Colorado Avalanche defenseman Mark Pysyk suspended for four games for hitting teammate in head

DENVER — Colorado Avalanche forward Mark Pym will be suspended for two games for boarding a teammate in the head on Saturday night, head coach Jared Bednar announced Saturday.

Pym was assessed a game misconduct for boarding and will forfeit $10,000.

Bednar said the league will work with the league office to ensure Pym’s safety and the safety of all players on the ice.

The league office did not release any further information.

The Avalanche defeated the St. Louis Blues 4-2 in Game 1 of the Western Conference Final Saturday.

The Avalanche went on to defeat the Minnesota Wild 5-2.
