How to keep your eyes open in the dark

The world’s eyes are the most sensitive, and the way we look at objects, even things that are invisible, can cause a huge amount of damage.

This week, the BBC’s Barbara Gaveston looks at what you can do to help your eyes be more effective.

In this episode, we talk to experts from a range of fields, including the medical profession, the legal profession and the public health sector.

Barbara is joined by Professor David Wray, who is a clinical neurophysiologist at King’s College London.

We also hear from Dr Andrew Pecorelli, a consultant neurologist who specialises in visual health.

And, of course, we hear from the head of a UK-based charity called the Brain Institute.

This is Barbara’s special report from London, and we’ve been listening to Barbara for six years.

And we’ve heard from more than 500 people, so we’ve put together an expert panel.

We’ll tell you more about it in the programme, but we need your help.

The Brain Institute is one of the UK’s leading brain research centres, and it’s got a mission to identify the cause and potential treatments for dementia, Alzheimer’s and other brain diseases.

We have more than 50,000 people who are part of its research, and Barbara is looking at how we can harness the expertise of people from different disciplines to help us get the best possible answers to these questions.

Barbara Giveston is BBC Radio 4’s chief science correspondent.
