A Stonybrook man has been found dead in his mental hospital room, the Department of Public Health (DPH) said.
Stuart R. Burch, 58, was found dead at Stoney Brook Hospital in North Brooklyn on Thursday.
The coroner’s office said he died of asphyxiation.
He had been admitted to the hospital on March 22 for a mental health evaluation.
A post-mortem examination found Burch’s body in a chair and his head in a bag, according to the DPH.
Burch was a patient of the StonyBrook Hospital, which serves mentally ill patients.
The DPH said he was “in the care of a psychiatrist at the time of his death.”
Stuart Burch was the patient at the Stoneybrook Mental Health Hospital.
He was found deceased by his wife in his room on Thursday, March 20, 2017, the DPS said.
